Why a puzzle reveal works so well

Most pregnancy announcements fall into two categories: a casual "guess what" over dinner, or an elaborate production that requires coordinating costumes and cameramen.

A puzzle sits right in the middle. It's unexpected enough to create a genuine surprise moment, but simple enough that you just hand them a box and watch. The 15 or so minutes they spend assembling the puzzle builds real suspense — they know something is coming, but they don't know what.

When they scan the QR code and your message appears (or your ultrasound, or a video of you holding up a positive test), the reaction is unfiltered. It's the kind of moment people replay in their heads for years.

Reveal ideas

Ultrasound photo

Upload the ultrasound image. When they scan the QR code, the photo appears on their phone alongside your message. Simple, emotional, effective.

Video reaction prompt

Record a short video of yourself saying "I have something to tell you..." or "we're having a baby!" Upload it so it plays the moment they scan.

For the grandparents

Ship the puzzle directly to the grandparents-to-be with a note in the box that says "solve me." Then FaceTime them and watch the moment live from wherever you are.

Gender reveal

Write "It's a boy!" or "It's a girl!" as the reveal message. Or upload a video of the moment you found out. The puzzle adds genuine suspense to the reveal.

How to set it up

1

Choose Digital Card

This lets you write a reveal message and upload a photo (like the ultrasound) or a video.

2

Write your announcement

Something like "Baby [Last Name] arriving January 2027" or "You're going to be an aunt!" — whatever feels right.

3

Upload a photo or video

Ultrasound image, positive test photo, or a short video. This appears alongside your message when they scan.

4

Hand it over and watch

Ship it to them or give it in person. Either way, have your camera ready — the reaction is going to be good.

Tips for the perfect reveal

  • Film the reaction. Set up your phone to record before they start solving. These reactions are keepers.
  • Add a vague note in the box. Something like "Solve me for a surprise" builds anticipation without spoiling anything.
  • Order early. If you're announcing at a specific event (Thanksgiving dinner, Mother's Day brunch), order at least two weeks ahead.
  • You can send multiples. Announcing to different family members? Order several puzzles, each with the same reveal content.

Pregnancy reveal questions

Can I order multiple puzzles with the same reveal?

Currently each puzzle has its own unique QR code and content. You'd need to place separate orders for each recipient, but you can set up the same message and media on each one.

Can I change the reveal content later?

Yes. Use your manage link to update the message, swap the photo, or add a video at any point before (or after) they scan it.

What if I want to include a onesie or baby item too?

We ship only the puzzle. But there's nothing stopping you from putting the puzzle box inside a larger gift basket with other baby reveal items.

Ready to share the news?

Upload the ultrasound, write the announcement, and let the puzzle do the rest.
