Why this works in escape rooms

Good escape rooms mix puzzle types — logic, physical, observation, pattern recognition. A jigsaw that produces a scannable QR code adds a tactile element that's different from padlocks and cipher wheels.

The team has to physically assemble the puzzle, then scan the result with their phone to get the next clue. It creates a natural "aha" moment: they complete the puzzle, point their phone at it, and the next piece of the story appears on screen.

Ways to integrate it

Next clue delivery

Write the next clue as the QR code's reveal message. Teams solve the puzzle, scan the code, and the clue appears on their phone. No game master intervention needed.

Lock combination reveal

Use the message to display a combination or key code. "The combination to the lockbox is 7-3-9-1." Physical puzzle unlocks a digital clue that unlocks a physical lock.

Video clue or briefing

Upload a short video that delivers a clue in character. The game master records a 15-second briefing, and it plays when teams scan the assembled puzzle.

Final reveal or reward

Use it as the last challenge. The QR code leads to a congratulations message, a leaderboard, a prize code, or a group photo from earlier in the game.

For scavenger hunts too

Puzzlegram works as a station in any multi-step challenge. Hide the puzzle pieces in different locations, or present the assembled puzzle face-down so they have to flip and solve it to progress.

The "Custom Link" option lets you point the QR code to any URL — a Google Maps pin for the next location, a shared Google Doc with instructions, or a password-protected page on your own site.

Practical considerations

Reusable across games

Update the content behind the QR code between sessions using the manage link. Same physical puzzle, different clue each time.

Durable enough for repeated use

The puzzle is 3D-printed from premium material. It'll survive dozens of game sessions without degrading.

Escape room puzzle questions

Can I order multiple puzzles for different rooms?

Yes. Each puzzle gets a unique QR code that you can link to different content. Order as many as you need.

Can I change the clue between games?

Yes. Use the manage link to update the reveal content anytime. The physical puzzle stays the same — only what appears when they scan changes.

Does it require a special app to scan?

No. Any modern phone camera can scan QR codes natively. No app installation needed.

How long does the puzzle take to solve?

About 15–30 minutes for most people. It's enough pieces to be a challenge, but not so many that it stalls the game.
